Case Study: Suburban Garden, Hove

Welcoming coastal planting with bright colours and gentle movement.

Hove Coastal Feel Garden

Location: Heselmere, Surrey
Size: Suburban Garden
Soil:Thin soil, slightly alkaline

The Brief

The owners wanted a welcoming planting display for their newly renovated house. They wished for a slight coastal feel with bright colours and movement.

The Challenges

Like many front gardens I found a lot of rubble mixed in with the existing flower beds. The renovating builders had used the front garden to be an area for mixing concrete so there was quite a lot of soil pollution. My team dug out all the areas where we were going to plant and added organic soil. The pathways were gravel so we planted through a weed proof membrane to separate the soil from the gravel.

Garden Management

The owners were keen to do their own gardening so use our maintenance schedule which is provided with all the installations we carry out.

Lucy, Hove

We’ve been absolutely blown away by the front and back garden Owen created for us. It has a beautiful, natural and coastal feel that’s just what we wanted. And we get so many comments from passers by who admire the front as they walk past.
