Case Study: Family Garden in Hove with Swimming Pool

The Brief

Create a large curved patio, reducing the existing one. Complete pool refurbishment and a total replant of the existing garden.

A sense of fun was also a request and planting with rhythm and movement. I had free range to plant the whole property which creates a cohesive display.

The Challenges

This is the second garden I had designed and built for this client so I had a good understanding of what they liked.

The challenge on this garden was breaking up the old existing patio which had a 12 inch reinforced concrete base. As it was so solid we used concrete floor saws to cut a shape into the concrete which we could then use as a base for the new layout. We removed 20 tons of hardcore/concrete from this site.

The second challenge was the existing pool.The pool wasn’t level or square,so we spent a lot of time correcting this. Also the client decided ‘mid build’ to have a ‘swimjet’ for the pool. As we had worked for them previously they had a lot of faith in our skills so we undertook this installation,a first for us! It was a success!
