Case Study: Garden Design to Attract Wildflife

We designed a garden to attract birds, bees and insects.

Urban Garden in Hove, East Sussex

Location: Walsingham Rd, Hove, East Sussex
Size: Urban Garden
Soil: Lifeless stoney soil over clay

The Brief

To create a garden to attract birds, bees and insects. The planting to look natural with seasonal colour. The front garden is more formal with colour.

The Challenges

The client had a feeling the soil was depleted in nutrients as nothing much would grow. We found under 5 inches of top soil there was so much rubble we filled 2 large skips.

Often gardens are sadly used for dumping grounds which is frustrating when trying to establish a thriving garden. We therefore added 12 tons of high quality topsoil and heavily composted once the plants were dug in.

Garden Management

The owner very much wanted the garden aftercare service we offer which helps this new garden design thrive.

Abigail Dooley

The work Owen does is simply soulful and inspiring. He turned a blank canvas into an oasis of calm, beauty and a haven for wildlife. Simply stunning.
