Case Study: Garden with Pool, Hove

Pool-dominated garden redesgned into a vibrant, walkable space.

Redesign of Hove Swimming Pool Garden

Location: Wilbury Crescent, Hove, East Sussex
Size: Medium size suburban garden
Soil: Slightly alkaline, but mostly swimming pool

The Brief

The owners inherited a garden which was dominated by a large swimming pool. After an internal refurbishment they contacted us to design a garden to walk around and admire. They were keen to bring life into the garden as it had been so sterile for so long. The garden was completed during ‘lockdown’ and we carried out all the hard landscaping for this project.

The Challenges

The pool was the main challenge, after taking out the liner and breaking the base to provide drainage we filled the void with first stone and shingle then added layers of sub soil and finally top soil.

Garden Management

The owners are very keen gardeners so keep it really well maintained. We provide them with aftercare advice when contacted. This project highlights how a considered garden design, supported by detailed planting design and ongoing garden management, can transform a space over time.
